Tom Ford Lip Colors: Wild Ginger & Violet Fatale

If there can ever be two products that I thought my life depended on having, then these products must be Tom Ford lipsticks! I couldnt care less about the extremely high price tag for a plain lipstick, I just knew I wanted a couple of them. I waited for an opportunity to get some hence they're unavailable in my country, and as they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder, the longer I had to wait, the more determined I got. So long story short, I finally  got the chance to finally own some.

For 50 dollars a lipstick, I decided to get two lipsticks, one which is a favorite of my all time favorite YouTuber, Lily Pebbles, and that is Wild Ginger which is a stunning orange red. The second one is a what I had hoped would be a straight up purple lipstick, which is Violet Fatale, but we'll get to that later.

Before we talk about colors themselves, let me just tell you guys that these expensive lipsticks are... NOTHING SPECIAL! There's nothing special in the texture, the way these things feel on my lips, the wear-time, etc etc etc. Did I call Mr. Ford's lipstick average? OOPS, I think I have! I mean, they're really nice, but so are many other lipsticks in the market! Lets be more specific and give a full description of these two 50 USD lipsticks!

Lets start out by saying that the only thing these two lipsticks from the same line and brand have in common is the wear time! Other than that, I felt that they were completely different. Both shades wore on me for an average of 3-4 hours, but they come off when I eat. I feel like if you let them sit on the lips for a good hour or two then they are more likely to leave a stain behind, but if you eat straight away, then you will definitely have to reapply.

In terms of texture, I felt that Violet Fatale was much more creamy and glossy, which may explain the fact that it has less pigment. Wild Ginger felt rather drier, didnt have the glossy finish of the former, I wouldnt say a matte finish, , but had a lot more pigment. I really don't think I can describe the texture of Tom Ford lipsticks as a line, as the two I've tried could not be more different, at least texture wise.

Wild Ginger is a stunning orange with strong red vibes, if that makes any sense! It is extremely extremely pigmented, and it has a satin finish. It's the perfect night out shade, and it pairs particularly well with a winged, tons of mascara, and a bronzer. I have filmed a tutorial using this shade with eyeshadow and blush, and it did look nice with that, but if you wanted this lipstick to be the focal point of the look, just do a winded line and bronze up your complexion!

Violet Fatale is a raspberry purple pink, which disappointed me a bit, but I still really like the color nonetheless! It's very different from Wild Ginger as I have suggested earlier! It has less pigmentation and more glossiness, it feels more buttery and smooth, creamy, and it has baby almost invisible shimmer! I think this would be perfect for a daytime look with pink blush, shimmery champagne eyeshadow all over the lid, a matte skin tone crease shade, and obviously, the secret weapon to meh lashes, mascara! This shade is also the perfect night out shade, just don't do bronzer, apply your highlighter, sculpt your face with a neutral toned sculpting powder, keep the eyes, add the liner, and you're more than ready to shine!

Overall, I cannot say that I'm disappointed, I mean, after all, they are really nice lipsticks... I just expected more! I will the heavens out of them though! I will not leave two 50 USD dollars to rot in a drawer! But I wouldnt say that they were must haves by any means! just some good lipsticks with a heavier than needs to be price tag...

The Verdict is #4: Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

I have become majorly obsessed with cleansing balms over the last couple months! They've been discussed way too often, and skin care is one of my many loves, and I just had to try one! I was willing to become a cannibal for that Emma Hardie one that was all the rage a while ago, but for 100 ml, it was just overpriced! I researched and researched and found many more cleansing balms, but for some reason, it just took me so long to make the leap of faith I've made. But finally, we're here! So lets give the Clinique cleansing balm a fair trial!

Obviously, we cant discuss a beauty item and not be slightly superficial and vain and criticize the packaging! For a person who'd rather have a khaki green (my favorite color beauty wise) packaging over a purple one, I quite like it! It has a silver lid that's quite secure. I mean, there's really not much to say about it other than yeah, its alright!

It contains 125ml, which is significantly more than the average. And it costs around 28.5 USD, which is a bargain! Alright now lets talk about the texture! This feels like soft butter that's been out of the fridge for a while and has started to melt. For someone who hasnt tried cleansing balms before, I was intrigued, and certainly amused. Amused until the minuted I put it on ma face!

It melted so quickly and became pretty slippery... oily! I felt a little uncomfortable at first, it was a peculiar feeling indeed. Then I started to massage it on my face, and boy, it felt nice. Now I did have a full face of makeup, and I even had liquid eyeliner on. So I shut my eyes and started to massage them, not expecting much. I massaged for a while, and I'm tellin' ya, that massaging thing feels so nice I lost track of time! All I know is that when I felt brave enough to open my eyes, I was terrified to death I almost had a heart attack! There was a panda in the mirror staring back at me and mimicking my every movement! Oh, wait, that panda was me with molten eyeliner all over my face! I'll be honest, it took me a while to get over that traumatic sight I saw in the mirror, but once I collected my thoughts, I realized how friggin' awesome this cleansing balm is at removing my makeup. And you know what's even more amazing? It didn't sting my sensitive eyes that turn tomato red in seconds! I'm telling you, this cleansing balm is the shizzzz!

Now, viewer discretion must be advised as you are about to see my panda transformation right now! I recommend you shut your eyes and skip this terrifying sight if you have a fear of nightmares... I would say something about the messy hair, but it is not nearly as horrific as my panda face!

Now I wanted the full experience, I wanted a hot cloth to rub on my face, I wanted to feel like a fancy British gal who just happens to live in blooming Nazareth! And that's what I did, I got a red cloth just to make it even sexier and hotter, run it under hot water, and *slapped* it gently on my face! It was the highlight of my life, I can honestly say that I can split my life into two parts, pre-cleansing balm and post cleansing balm!

After the cloth started to cool on my face, I just gave myself a last wipe just to make sure that there was no cleanser residue on my face. And BAM, the panda has departed, and all there was in the mirror was just me and my squeaky clean face! But don't worry about missing Mr. Panda too much, all you gotta do is put your liner on and cleanse it with a balm, and you'll be reunited with Mr or Miss Panda again, yay!

So just to make sure I had a super clean face, this is a cotton pad soaked in some micellar cleansing water I used to make sure that my face was squeaky clean, and look at it, it is clean! This thing really works!

Lastly, if you're worried that this will leave your face feeling greasy, dont worry! It makes your face feel clean, non-stripped, comfortable enough, and ready for your next steps in your skincare routine.

Do I need to conclude or do you get the picture? The verdict is that this product is awesome, highly recommended, its life changing, and once you start using a cleansing balm, you'll never go back to those nasty foaming ones ever again! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I'll end with a classic Nat King Cole note and say: LOVE was made for me and yoooooou (cleansing balm)

The Verdict is #3:Tom Ford Cognac Sable

I am guilty of falling for a hyped up, well, an extremely hyped up product, as usual! But did I end up loving it as much as I had originally anticipated? Well, lets discuss this product and try to make up our minds together, or maybe you can make up my mind for me!

Yes, as the title suggests, the product being put in trial today is the highly anticipated eyeshadow quad in Cognac Sable by the legendary Tom Ford. Yes, Tom Ford is a big deal to me, he's OH SO HANDSOME, he's bloody brilliant, his blushes and perfumes are tried and trusted by me, and I was dying to try more from his line which is sadly unavailable where I live.

Alright now lets talk a little bit about the packaging and all the superficial things, because hey, in the world of beauty, the product must perform and look delightful too! Alright so the packaging is similar to the blushes packaging except its much bigger. Its a fingerprint magnet, which sucks, but it still looks simple-y elegant and really chic. It has a magnetic closure, and a genormous mirror, an awesome one indeed! It comes with two double sided applicators, one has a pointy sponge and a rounded one, the other one has that same rounded sponge and an angled blending brush of some sort that is very soft that I use it too! The compact is made out of some kind of plastic that still looks chic, and its quite hefty too. If it wasnt for those nasty fingerprints, I would have raved a little bit more about the superficial packaging, but then maybe its better so that I get to the performance part faster.

Alright, performance-wise, I am reaaaaaaly impressed by the pigmentation, the softness, how easy to blend they are, and the nonexistent fallout. Mr. Ford, I love you ten times more! These colors though not as creamy as my beloved Guerlain (cant make a post without talking about my Guerlain love affair!!), but they perform just as good! I am in love with the quality, head over heels in love with the nonexistent fallout, and honestly, I want more of them quads!

Now is this post going to be a complete and total praise? No... Lets talk about the shades and explain why I'm not completely smitten by this quad. OK, so hence the word quad, this palette contains 4 colors:

Wow factor much???

The first shade is a warm golden peachy champagne, with baby shimmers running through it. I really love this shade, I think its perfect all over the lid, in the inner tear duct, and for those of you who highlight underneath your eyebrows, this will work too. As I said, no fallout, zero!
The second shade is a lighter chocolate brown with fine shimmer too. Its pretty warm again, highly pigmented, not too shimmery for the crease, and super easy to blend.
The third shade is a darker burnt warm brown, yes, warm again! It also has some fine shimmers, and its really well pigmented and I love it for the outer v. It's arguably my favorite outer v shade ever, at least thats how it seems nowadays!
The last shade is a glittery copper. This is the problematic shade for me for two reasons which I'll address after I tell you what's good about it, lets just start with the positive, the least I can give to Mr. Ford. The quality of this glitter is jaw-dropping! This glitter is so nice that I can use it on my anyone's eyes regardless of age and it wont accentuate wrinkles or anything like that. And what amazes me even more is the, again, nonexistent fallout. Now I used it with my little finger just for a little accent, I heard it performs better when pressed, and it really does perform phenomenally well. Yes its great quality, I think I've already established that well enough. Now lets talk a little bit about why this isnt the quad of my life! That glitter shade is a love/hate shade for me. I love the quality but I just do not think its practical for my makeup consumption habits, so to say... I just don't use chunky glitter on my eyes, I think its not daytime appropriate, but maybe that's just me being too settle for the average woman... Another thing is that if  I wanted to only use shades from this palette exclusively, it turns out to be a little too warm toned that I find the need to use a neutral toned shade to balance it out. And since I prefer using my fingers over a brush, I just find that it spreads the glitters a little too much, even if I use my already petite pinkie, its just too big for my petite eyelid!

Tom ford Cognac Sable and Guerlain (AGAIN! Carol, you need to stop!) Les Cuirs

Now before I conclude, I thought we should talk a little bit about the price. This quad costs about 78 USD. It is not cheap by any stretch of an imagination, but hey I bought it, and I'm not the president's daughter nor do I make a billion dollar a week. And hey, I do want more of these quads, especially Silvered Topaz, and maybe also Titanium Smoke for my pleasure as a smokey eye lover!

Conclusion time, or should I say the verdict is?
Do I love this quad? yes, maybe, probably... I'm very fond of all of the shades except for that glitter, but thanks to this quad, I find myself grabbing my other even more neutral quad, which I've featured in the footage and reviewed here, more just to tone down the coppery-ness of the Mr. Ford quad. The shimmer may grow on me, hopefully. What do you think? Do you have this quad? If not, do you feel encouraged to buy it or discouraged?
But hey, until we meet again, here's to us enjoying our makeup more, and I'll drink to the hope of falling in love with glitter on the lids! cheers!

BTW, I'll be doing a YouTube Review of this quad, and I'll link right here as soon as I do it! And if you'd like to see how I use it on a day to day basis, I'll definitely make sure to film a modest tutorial for y'all! thanks for reading everyone!

Top 5 High End Lipsticks

High End lipsticks are one of these kind of products that once you start buying a few of them, you simply cannot stop. They are addictive for many reasons, like packaging, unique colors, the way they feel on the lips, and the list is endless. Picking 5 colors was not an easy task, it took me a week to finally settle on the selection I'm going to share with you today. So, without any further ado, lets get started.

The first lip product is the Guerlain Shine Automatique in 265 Pao Rosa. I'll start by saying that the packaging is amazing on this one. It has a button the you must slide to get the product to come out.  It is very light, not nearly as heavy as other Guerlain products, but it is just as stunning. This shade is a plummy purple-red sheer yet pigmented lip color with fine pink shimmers running through it. It is not as long lasting as more opaque lipsticks, but is is definitely long lasting in comparison to other sheer lipsticks in the market. I have gone through several tubes of this, I have to admit that this is by far my go to most cherished lip product I own.

Lipstick number 2 is another Guerlain lipstick, and it is the Rouge Automatique in 141, Quand Vient Lete, which actually means when summer comes! It is a stunning peach coral, more on the orange side of the spectrum. It is extremely comfortable, like the whole Rouge Automatique line. It is definitely more opaque and pigmented than the Shine Automatique, and more long lasting. I would actually stretch it and say that this leaves a little bit of a stain behind it. The packaging is identical to the Shine Automatique line, nothing short of gorgeous. It is perfect for daily wear, perfect for spring and summer, but again, when I like a shade, I wear it whenever I feel like doing so.

Lipstick number three is very similar to number 2 in the fact that they are both coral shades. It is Lancome's Rouge in Love in 322M Rouge in Love. This is a pink coral, there isn't a lot of peach going through it, but just enough to make it a coral and not a pink. It's very comfortable and creamy, similar to the lipsticks mentioned above. The packaging isn't as nice, but its still quite pretty. It lasts for a long time, as long as a light color can. I love this for the summer with very minimal makeup on, maybe just a ton of bronzer, and a ton of mascara too.

Lipstick number four is the boldest I'd say, this is the lipstick to pull of when you're feeling particularly brave and fancy. It is the Tom Ford lip color in Wild Ginger, and boy is is truly WILD! This is an orange red shade that is extremely opaque and long lasting. It applies creamy and has a ton of pigment, its really impressive. This shade leaves a decent stain behind it. a gorgeous one indeed. But honestly I just think that it is a little but (A LOT) overpriced! But hey, I don't regret it, and I would purchase more in a heartbeat! And the packaging is stunning, oh, so stunning!

Last but not least, and the most long lasting one of the bunch is a classic red. We're talking about the infamous amazing YSL Glossy Stains, and the one in 09, Rouge Lacque. This is a classic red that makes you feel like a billion dollars babe just by wearing it. Though not as comfortable and slightly drying (majorly!), I love it, I just love love love it! This is seriously long lasting, its not even funny. You can go out for lunch and eat everything on the menu and you'll still have it on your lips! If I am going out to eat, I do not think twice! Plus, the shade is just to die for, it is gorgeous, my favorite red of all time, and the most long lasting lip product mentioned in this post! This is amazing stuff, I would have paid Tom Ford prices for this, but its not as expensive, and its more long lasting! NO JOKES, this is amazeballs!

And here's a recap for the lipstick gems discussed today:

(top to bottom: Guerlain Shine Automatique in 265, Guerain Rouge Automatique in 141, Lacome Rouge in Love in 322M, Tom Ford Lip Color in Wild Ginger, YSL Glossy Stain in 09)
