Rimmel Apocalips, Are You That Amazing?

If you reached this Blog Post, you must have heard about the infamous Apocalips by Rimmel. I dont know what you've heard, but it must have been something great.
Now I'm going to start out by saying that this is certainly not a bad product, but it is not amazing either. I am actually considering comparing them to the YSL Glossy Stains, but that's still just a thought that needs execution.

Anyway, in order to make it quick and easy, I better get started:

  • In terms of packaging, its absolutely lovely, very handbag friendly, lightweight, and quite pretty. The closure is also secure enough to put it in your handbag without having to worry about it whatsoever.
  • In terms of application, I like the concept of the hole inside the actual applicator, but I would have preferred a more triangular tip, just to be more precise. I like that its quite thin, but its just the very tip I don't quite like. It's not the easiest to apply, but its not bad.
  • In terms of how it feels, it is neither hydrating nor drying. It feels like it just sits on top of your lips waiting for a new surface to transfer on.
  • In terms of the scent and taste of the lipstick, there is a very understated scent, and hardly and flavor. I don't think it'll be offensive even to those of you who are quite sensitive to scents.
  • In terms of pigmentation, its oh so pigmented, spot on. Well, I did try a pink and a red, after all!
  • In terms of transference, it transfers easily on any surface, and it wont leave a very noticeable stain.
  • In terms of longevity, well they made it sound like it's going to last for an entire decade on your lips, but it kind of lasted like a regular lipstick would, nothing more of that, but certainly nothing short as well. I actually think that a regular lipstick will stain your lips way better than these.
  • Lastly, the color selection is not that extensive, but then again it's relatively new, and I think many more will be coming sooner than we anticipate.

In conclusion, this is quite a nice product, but its just nothing special. I am not disappointed because the product is bad, I'm just a little let down because of all the hype. It's not the first liquid lipstick that we see, and its not the first drugstore one neither, it lasts fairly long, but nothing longer than a regular pigmented lipstick. It's OK, but I am not blown away by it. However, it did not turn me off of using them like the case with the Revlom lip butters which I couldn't stand, and I still want to get my hands on Galaxy.

Rush Hour Beauty Essentials

You're rushing out of the door in 5 minutes, yet you still want to look presentable. What to do? What not to do? Which steps are more important than others? Find out what I will do if I had to rush out of the door in less than 5 minutes.

First thing first, do not panic, no one is expecting a complex smokey eye with 101 shades. Take a deep breath, its all about the quality, not the quantity.

The most important step that no one must skip is skincare, at least wash your face and apply moisturize with SPF if you don't have the time to spare on applying both a moisturizer and a separate SPF.

Next, lets make the skin look better, a thin layer of foundation is a key, the thicker you apply the more it rushed out it will look. Yes you are in a hurry, but you don't want to look like you are. Quality over quantity is the best beauty motto. If you really need to get going, use your hands, its totally fine. But if not, I love stippling brushes.

Now your face looks much better. If you have major acne issues or dark spots, dark under eye circles, or anything that you want your foundation to cover, but it didn't  then you'll probably need a concealer too, but don't be too finicky, EVERYBODY's skin acts up sometimes.

Next, I would go straight to Mascara, not a dramatic one because again you dont want to look overdone. I am not a fan of mascara on by bottom lashes, but its not for me to decide whether you should apply mascara on them or not. However, what I highly suggest is that if you have 10 seconds to spare, grab a waterproof colored pencil liner and run it across the lower lash line. It will give your eyes vibrancy and youthfulness, Use a waterproof or a really long lasting one, and use a color that looks nice on the colors of your eyes.

Next, for me, blush is definitely a must. I like cream blushed because you don't need a brush, but I still would opt for a powder one. It depends on your personal preferences, but still, I would never skip it. No need for contours and highlights, just pick a color that you love, and a formula that you trust.

Last but not least, the lips. the easiest thing to do is either a nude lip or a sheer lipstick. Or you can use an easy application kind of lip product. Use a color that suits your skin tone, and also makes your teeth look whiter.

Last but not least, wear your favorite perfume and head out of the door, and don't worry, you look beautiful :)

Rimmel Apcalips

After months of being curious about them,I have just purchased two of the Apocalips lip lacquers to try out. Yes I have heard endless raves, and none of the reviews I heard or read were negative, but so was the case with the Revlon LipButters which I completely hated. But there was a sale and I decided that I should probably try some. So I purchased two, Big Bang and Out of This World. I am dying to get my hands on Galaxy, but at least I will know whether I like them or not. I will be doing a full review late on, but for now, I thought I should share some swatches, because WHY NOT!

So here are what those infamous lacquers look like:

Big Band is on top, Out of this world is at the bottom

Now into the swatches:

Out of This World:

Initially speaking, I love the packaging, the pigmentation, the applicator, but the smell bothers me, it reminds me of the YSL Volupte lipsticks' scent, which I hate, but this one is a little better. I am not sure about anything else other than the fact that the smell is a little off-putting, but I will clarify all the other element when I get to try both colors.
